…as Adeleke prevents bus drivers from operating
…APC supporters threaten to apply force

Unless the security operatives take decisive steps, violence of a high proportion is about to be unleashed on Osun as the Governor Ademola Adeleke-led State government has ordered bus drivers not to operate today, Thursday, February 2, 2023.

This is part of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP government’s plan to sabotage the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential rally slated for 11am today at the Freedom Park, Osogbo.

However, bus drivers who are APC members and others who are sympathetic to APC’s cause decided to ignore the order of the State government. They arrived their various parks across the State and loaded their passengers, ready to move but were being prevented from moving by the agents of the State Government who though are non-State actors.

To this end, members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW who are sympathetic to the cause of the APC are already mobilising to confront the state agents.

However, Engineer Remi Omowaiye, spokesman for the Tinubu/Shettima campaign in Osun has appealed to both parties to sheath their sword and allow peace reign in Osun.

Speaking with journalists on Thursday morning in Osogbo, Omowaiye said: “we truly have the capacity to match and dislodge the PDP thugs that are being used by the State Government to prevent vehicles from moving our supporters to the venue of our rally.

“We do not however want to descend to their level. This is why we are appealing to security operatives to step in and allow those bus drivers who want to operate to operate.

” The State Government should know that if it ever enjoyed any sympathy before, what it has been doing in the last six days or so have eroded it. You don’t govern a people by force,” he added.

On the issue of venue, the former commissioner for Works and Transport in the State, said the APC opted for the Freedom Park as venue of the rally because all the presidential rallies held in the state, including that of the PDP were held at the Freedom Park.
