Kimpact Expresses Fear On INEC Preparation With Logistic For 2023 General Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been urged by the Kimpact Development of Initiative (KDI) over logistic planning towards February 27 and March 11 general elections.

Bukola Idowu, the Executive Director of KDI while granting interview with Rave FM Osogbo ,on Friday,suggested that, National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) should not be the only organisation to solve logistic problem for INEC doing election day.

According to Idowu,”Government vehicles can be put together for use for the election purpose, the only thing they will have to do is to pay the drivers that are going to drive the cars.”

Idowu advised the commission to think outside the box on what they have been doing in providing logistics for election.

While reminding Nigerians of the previous general election, Idowu said, “we have logistic issue in 2019, so I can tell you not as a prophet, with what I am seeing on ground, it may not be widespread but we are likely to see logistic issue again.

“There are international logistic and delivery outfit in Nigeria with a lot of logistic capacity that you can employ.” He told INEC.”

He,however, urged INEC and National Orientation Agency (NOA) to partner with media organizations, civil societies, in educating the people over electoral process.

“Ignorance of people just getting to know things when it happen and those thing are already in the constitution and the guide line is there and nobody can rule out that fact but you need to do everything possible to explain to people that ,incase this happen this is the criteria for the run off,in case you are going for run off , that we have also seen, as the potential for violence in this nation. ” He said.
