PDP’s Natasha Wins Kogi Central Senatorial Election

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has lost to her major opponent, Ohere Sadiku Abubakar of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate.

Natasha confirmed she won Ajaokuta with 1,355 votes.

She posted this on her verified Facebook account on Monday.

She wrote: “🙏🏻We won Ajaokuta🙏🏻

“After cancelling 12 polling unit results due to APC’s meaningless petitions;
Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan wins Ajaokuta LGA with 1,355 votes.”

She afterwards claimed that Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, in alliance with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reduced her vote.

“Gov. Yahaya Bello deals Independent National Electoral Commission. Reduces Ajaokuta’s vote to 900.

“Kogi Central stand up against this injustice. Meet me at Okene’s INEC in 30 minute.”

However, declaration of the senatorial district results declared by INEC confirmed Natasha lost the race to her APC contender.

Prof. Rotimi Ajayi, the INEC Returning Officer for Kogi Central Senatorial District, announced the result on Tuesday in Okene.

He said Sadiku-Ohere garnered 52,132 votes against Natasha’s 51,763 votes to clinch the seat, a difference of 369 votes between them.

“Engineer Abubakar Sadiku-Ohere of the APC having scored the highest votes in the election for the Kogi Central senatorial seat is hereby declared winner, and is therefore returned elected,” Ajayi said.
