Five Factors That Helped Tinubu Win Presidential Election

The victory of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has been adjudged as one of kneenly contested in the history of Nigeria since 1999.

Tinubu, former two term governor of Lagos State contested against 18 presidential candidates from 18 political parties.

Former Vice President of Nigeria Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, and two term governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi of the Labour Party,LP, were the close contenders of the president-elect.

Tinubu who was declared winner by Chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission,INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, on Wednesday, scored a total votes of 8,794,726.

While the runner-up of the contest, Atiku Abubakar scored a total votes of 6,984,520 and Pete Obi who finished third scored a total votes of 6,101,533.

However, the top three contestants all won 12 state while Rabiu Kwanwaso of the New Nigeria People’s Party won a single states
