Group Expresses Worry Over Killings In Osun

The Initiative for Community and Social Development has expressed worry over killings recorded in the state reportedly happened through political attacks.

The group in a press statement signed by its Director,Jare Ismahil Tiamiyu,on Friday made available to Blaze Newz frowned to political crisis erupted in different parts of Osun in the last 72 hours.

Osun will on Saturday go into the poll to elect their preferred house of assembly members for the 26 state constituencies.

“Following the crisis that has erupted in some parts in Osun State in the last 72 hours, Insight Initiative for Social and Community Development, the Osun partners for VoteNotFight campaign, is calling to order all stakeholders in the political circle.

“We’re deeply worried by the development that is turning a formerly peaceful State in to battlefield all in the name of State House of Assembly elections.

“To this end, IICSD is calling on security agencies in the state to put all necessary security measures in place to deal decisively with anyone or group of persons who are behind the recent crisis that has claimed at least, a life.

“The Initiative also called on politicians to remember their words during our engagement with them and to act according to the rules. We also urge them to call their supporters to order as only a peaceful electoral process and peaceful atmosphere will enable the electorates to exercise their franchise without fear.

“We’re also calling the residents of the state to act in good conduct, to only exercise their civic rights and not engage in any form of violence.

“Finally, we commend the Osun State Police Command under the present CP Elections, Peter Abayomi Oladipo for the arrests recently made. We urge the command to ensure diligent investigation and prosecution of culprits.”
